Mesolithic (10,000 BC - 2500 BC)

The Mesolithic period also started with wide variations of temperature. However, by 8000BC the temperatures were warmer than current temperatures which led to woodlands spreading across Great Britain. By the end of the Mesolithic period, seawater flooded the land to the south to form the English Channel. This resulted in the creation of the island of Great Britain and cutting off British people from those in mainland Europe.
