Palae0lithic Period (900,000 BC - 10,000 BC)

British history started around 900,000 years ago, however permanent habitation in Great Britain did not start until around 11,700 years ago. At that time the English Channel did not exist and people could walk from mainland Europe to what is now the island of Great Britain.

英国历史始于大约 900,000 年前，但英国的永久居住直到大约 11,700 年前才开始。当时英吉利海峡还不存在，人们可以从欧洲大陆步行到现在的大不列颠岛。

The prehistoric era started with the Stone Age where people living in the British Isles were hunter-gatherers and used stone tools. The Stone Age itself can be divided into 2 separate periods; the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic Periods.​

史前时代始于石器时代，当时生活在不列颠群岛的人们是狩猎采集者，使用石器。石器时代本身可以分为 2 个独立的时期;旧石器时代和中石器时代。

During the Palaeolithic period, the British Isles experienced extreme changes in the environment. Glaciers advanced and then retracted across the land multiple times. People at this time survived by hunting wild animals, fishing, and collecting fruit, nuts and berries.

在旧石器时代，不列颠群岛经历了环境的极端变化。冰川在这片土地上多次推进又后腿。此时的人们通过狩猎野生动物、捕鱼以及采集水果、坚果和浆果来生存。
